About the data
For every temperature and pressure in the plot, the surface shows the density of the phase of water that is stable there. Where two phases coexist, the surface becomes a vertical wall spanning both densities. Looking straight down collapses each wall to a line, which is why the phase diagram is its shadow.
- Liquid, vapor, supercritical
- IAPWS-95 formulation, evaluated with CoolProp 8.0
- Ice Ih
- IAPWS R10-06 (2009), via the iapws package
- Sublimation and melting
- IAPWS R14-08 (2011)
- Scales
- Temperature linear, 200–800 K. Pressure and density logarithmic. Nothing exaggerated.
- Not shown
- High-pressure ices (III, V, VI…) appear above 209.9 MPa, beyond this plot.
